Route 40

There is a program to cross the Route 40 from Bariloche down to El Calafate and the reverse way during summer season (from November 15th to Easters).

The trip takes 2 days to El Chaltén, is 12/14 hours each day and then, from there to El Calafate is another 3 hours (212 km). El Chalten is higly recommended for hikes and the stunning Fitz Roy Mountain Range. This beautiful town located in the north area of “Los Glaciares National Park”, recognized as the Trekking National Capital.

Day 1) Bariloche – Perito Moreno
Departures every odd day early in the mourning, arriving at Perito Moreno town around 9:00 pm.

Day 2) Perito Moreno – El Chaltén
Departures every even day, arriving at El Chaltén at 9:00 pm.
The rate also includes the first night of accomodation in El Chaltén.
